A Teleprompter for Krumm Anyone who’s ever been to a Great Crusades show might recognize that a certain lead singer in the band tends to forget some of his lyrics from time to time. Imagine what a challenge it must be to remember lyrics he didn’t actually write. Which brings up a long-running dream I’ve had and told a few people about. Maybe one day The Great Crusades will get big enough to buy me a teleprompter so I can get the lyrics right every time. Hey, I was once called “Tom Waits and Axl Rose’s love child” in the venerated pages of Rolling Stone, and Axl used a teleprompter back in the day, so it only makes sense that Axl’s “love child” should have his own teleprompter. Like father (or mother?) . . . like son. But then the “creative interpretation” of lyrics has always been a part the fun of playing cover tunes. And covers have always been part of the fun of seeing The Great Crusades play live. That’s always been one reason why we play covers . . . because they’re fun to play live. But they are also a way to tip our collective hat to artists we respect and songs we love. So, enjoy. And if you notice too many “œcreative interpretations” of the lyrics in these recordings, you might consider taking up a collection to put the down payment on a teleprompter for Krumm.
